When a new student enters the program, staff members administer a basic assessment and conduct an interview. That information is used to create a Learning Profile, which gives a general overview of the student including thier current level of literacy, a bit of background information, and the goals and needs of the student.

Although there is no 'typical student' in the Basic Literacy Program, below you will find four Learning Profiles that represent the general spectrum of students. Please take a few moments to look through the profiles, and consider how you might approach tutoring any or all of them.
