National Literacy Organizations
- National Institute for Literacy (NIFL)
This federally sponsored government organization coordinates public and private activities that support the
development of high-quality regional, state, and national literacy services.
- ProLiteracy This national organization was
formed by the merger of Laubach Literacy and Literacy Volunteers of America. Includes a link to
New Readers Press, a source for specialty publications.
- Literacy Information and Communication System
LINCS brings together dozens of literacy-related databases and web sites into one information system. It also
includes more than 50 discussion lists as well as instructional materials on a variety of topics. Our regional
resource is called Northwest LINCS.
- CAELA Center for Adult English Language Acquisition
Look for the articles about ESL instruction and the on-line newsletter of ESL news and resources.
- Equipped for the Future (EFF) Here you can
find the 16 Equipped for the Future standards that define the knowledge and skills adults need in order to successfully
carry out their roles as parents, citizens, and workers in the 21st Century.
